Hawassa University College of Medicine and Health Sciences has organized a research conference in collaboration with Sidama Public Health Institute and Sidama Regional Health Bureau. The event was held in the African Union Hall from November 20-21, 2025, and 11 impactful research reports focusing on the public health problems were presented.
• Dr. Damene, Director General of the Sidama Public Health Institute, shared insights about collaborative projects.
• Dr. Tafese, Vice President of Hawassa University, expressed gratitude to the NORHED-SENUPH II project for their support.
• Professor Bernt Lindtjørn and Professor Ingunn from the University of Bergen, also involved with the NORHED-SENUPH II project.
The presenters, primarily final-year PhD students, along with representatives from the Sidama Regional Health Bureau, brought fresh perspectives. Under the guidance of Dr. Taye Gari, we engaged in meaningful discussions about policy recommendations and strategies for implementing our findings.
This workshop has made a significant impact by addressing critical health challenges in our region, and we look forward to continuing this important work!
